The Upper Story

The Upper Story is a daytime café and lunch destination operated by the Charlie Palmer Group within the Designers & Decorators Building on Third Avenue in NYC. But by night the space transforms into an event setting for corporate functions, wedding dinners, bar mitzvahs and social affairs. MZA designed the dining space, enlarged and improved the kitchen layout, and developed a new concept for how the venue can convert seamlessly from one function to the other. Re-opened in November 2014, the new design provides direct access to the restaurant from the elevator lobby, celebrates the amazing 270 degree view of midtown Manhattan and keeps the interior fluid to allow for its almost-daily transformation.
