When Zeitgeist Gallery relocated to Wedgewood-Houston in 2013, MZA saw an opportunity to convert an aging auto repair shop into a shared home for both the gallery and the firm's own studio. Located in the middle of one of Nashville's most artistic neighborhoods, the project presented the possibility to transform an industrial building into something where both art and design could thrive. MZA stripped everything out of the building except for the raw material and the open floor plan, constructing a light-filled loft-like environment. The project reflects MZA's continued passion for adaptive reuse and urban revitalization. By fusing office and gallery, the space dissolves walls between disciplines and redefines what a workplace can be.
