MZA has a long-standing relationship with local Coffee and food purveyor, Bongo Java. The company founder developed the name BOX as an acronym for “Bongo + Bakery On Tenth”, a combination of the literal location of the space and the company name.

The bread box served as a conceptual departure point for the design, and with a tongue in cheek nod to the inspired naming method, MZA took the BOX analogy to the power of X. MZA worked closely with local fabricators 5 String Furniture for the tables and Southern Lights Electric to develop custom tables and lighting for the space. The resulting space has a fresh, airy aesthetic with a midcentury modern edge, and has quickly become a vibrant destination in the growing neighborhood.
