Belmont Lofts
This project involved the renovation of a 1908 foursquare and the replacement of a 1960's apartment building attached to the house with urban lofts. The goal was to preserve the architectural style of the foursquare and build lofts that would be compatible with the neighborhood. To meet the challenge of designing modern lofts in a historic neighborhood, MZA worked closely with the Metro Historical Commission to provide an example how this may be achieved. Future residents for some of the eight 1600 square foot lofts were consulted during the design phase and unique floor plans were created for each unit. Special features include custom made steel doors, Ikea kitchens, cantilevered stairs and a meditation balcony.
