Mercury View Lofts
The first mixed-use loft project in the Nashville gulch, Mercury View is a landmark project for Nashville. This building features 32 residential units, a 24-hour commercial bakery, an art gallery, several restaurants, and a music venue making it a hub of Nashville night life.
The residential lofts rise out of a renovated two-story warehouse base also designed by MZA. Exposed concrete, corrugated steel, and low-e solar green glass were artfully used to combine old warehouse spaces with new construction. The residential portion was developed by penetrating through the existing warehouse structures to form a superstructure for the residential lofts.
The project was one of the first uses of bio-swales and porous paving in Nashville. Water is collected in the parking lot, filtered through permeable soil and plantings, and slowly released into the city storm water system. We worked closely with our Landscape Architecture and Planning consultant, Hawkins Partners, and with Metro Agencies to embrace this alternative approach.
