KIPP Antioch College Prep Middle is the second school to be built on a site master-planned by MZA with Barge Cauthen. With more than 48,000 SF over three stories, the building provides an engaging educational environment with light filled gathering spaces for approximately 500 fifth through eighth graders. Early in the master planning process for the campus, the design team identified a theme that would guide the dialogue between the two facilities for which the campus was planned: KIPP Antioch Elementary “The Barn” would explore forms familiar to agricultural buildings. This project, KIPP Antioch Middle “The Boat” would focus on the uplifting and freeing sensation that, like a seafaring vessel, an exceptional educational can provide.
