Located on the Cumberland River Greenway and facing 2nd Avenue North, the MZA/EOA collaborative design for the mixed-use Chamberlain House is intended to serve as a catalyst for a walkable downtown Nashville. The building facades are conceived as a series of bent planes that diverge from the typical apartment building aesthetic while also providing opportunities for active, unexpected spaces at the pedestrian scale. Promoting active use is most evident on the north side of the site where the building’s courtyard physically connects to the downtown greenway, encouraging circulation within and around the site.
