A 4800 square foot build out in the Terrazzo office and condominium tower in Nashville’s “Gulch” area, the KTRAGH project provided a new office for a start-up, full service, entertainment law firm. The south and west facing window walls provided the only daylighting to the space, so the design had to creatively find a way to “share” the light to the entire office. Built on a very tight budget, materials were kept simple, infrastructure remained exposed throughout much of the space, and flexibility had to be built into various components; the conference room, for example, was outfitted with a glass garage door so that the space could open up into the foyer outside of it for larger functions. The curved, wood slat wall provided a foil to the hard materials and rectilinear layout elsewhere in the space. The individual slats pivot to allow changing transparencies or opacities.
