Richard Feaster’s Solar opens December 3 at Zeitgeist. The show explores the artifacts of twentieth-century abstraction. Employing analog and digital techniques, Feaster's own marks - brushstrokes, splatters, and drips are scanned and extensively reworked using computer software. Through a labor-intensive process of collage, these new mediated images interact on canvas with real-world painted elements to produce vibrant, glowing compositions that challenge notions of traditional painterly space while also invoking the virtual world of the computer.
Richard Feaster lives and works in Nashville, TN. He was born in Hagerstown, MD, and attended Birmingham Southern College (BFA), Tulane University (MFA) and the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture. His work has been exhibited internationally and is included in private, corporate and university collections.
